Peer Pressure

Middle Schooler won't wear mittens or hat or zip up jacket. Has played cello since third grade and happily checks "classical" for "favorite type of music" when filling out questionnaires, but was discovered up in room the other day with radio tuned to loud rap.
When is it time to worry about drinking and drugs?

What is it about music?

The other day I had a long discussion with my 10 year old about the fact that an iPod shuffle ($99) had more than enough capacity, and that he really didn't need an iPod nano ($399). Finally he confessed that he knew the CAPACITY was fine, but he worried that it would be "too embarrassing" to have a shuffle instead of a nano.

In the end I convinced him to use the line that because he is such an active, outdoorsy guy he really PREFERS the shuffle because of it's size and portability.
